With many crowds lined up along the cyclist route waiting to catch a glimpse of the rider’s race through their city. It was a chance for viewers around the world to see just some of Croatia’s famous land marks and Historical Cities. If you’re living in Osijek or some of the places mentioned, this is a great opportunity to be a volunteer for Tour of Croatia. The application deadline is March 31 2017.To get all the latest information on the race can be reached on their home page www.tourofcroatia.com and for the latest update on face book page Written by James B. Mac Donald Photo By James B. Mac Donald In an article published this past week by Osijek031.com, they examined this very question. However, for many Osječani, they would not agree and would contribute another story. Taking a closer look at the app it sorts all the raw data and other contributing factors. The web application that has people talking about is “The Earth Awaits.” (www.theearthawaits.com)This is an application for people considering a change in lifestyle or for the more adventurous type who love to travel, and are considering moving to another city anywhere in the world. The app uses updated information on the quality of life and the most expensive cities around the globe. It provides customers with all the required information about the City where they maybe eventually planning to move, with specific emphasis on the level of cost of living. In this website there are a number of parameters that can be adjusted. For example, you can tune the controls to the luxury to live in a safe city with a low crime rate. Another feature of the app, is that it provides a quality of assortment of health services. The most important, is the global changes in lifestyle as the world has changed drastically in the last year. In facing these real changes one must now consider the respect for freedom and tolerance. With all these parameters to consider the application sorts the world stats and will let you narrow the search options down to seven cities around the world. And one of them is Osijek. With the actual testing of the website www.theearthawaits.com, we took it upon ourselves to see how and what would happen if one was to input the data as follows. The filter of what we put into the system
2) Lifestyle: Modest was selected (you have it starts at very lean, lean, Modes, Ample, Opulent) 3) Crime rate: Very Low 4) Population: Very Low Continents - there is a list of 6 (South America, North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania. We choose to check off only Europe. Using these parameters, Osijek was one of the first on this list so if you want a good healthy lifestyle with safety it comes up on top. To our surprise, Osijek being mentioned as one of the seven cities, it appears to be the cheapest by far. According to this app, it suggest that average person should be able to live on 2,000 Euros a month. From the results Osijek comes on top of the list which is a positive result. Thinking about safety, health, and living expenses. For example how safe is it to walk down the streets, living in a big city it becomes second nature to always check to see what is around. In some areas there is the chronic problem with children respiratory problems such as Asthma developing. Looking at the features using low pollution to avoid bad health as the cause of the surrounding living environment. The other side of the coin…
Now let's reverse the test and input that we have lots of money to be made and don’t care about crime, putting it high. One will be shocked as these result show the places that everyone wants to work in. With all this information and much to argue with the reality of the daily media reporting of the mass emigration to Ireland or Germany. The app works only to a limited capability There is a hitch or catch one may say with the app that is not mentioned. This is like the thorn of a rose bush with one tiny little problem: how steep is 2,000 euros a month? The average salary in Osijek as per say is significantly lower than the average salary in Croatia. Even going one step further into the situation of average families employed with a solid income is unlikely to earn a total of 2,000 euros. This is whether the allowance of 2,000 Euros is per a single person or a family with two or more children? There is also a glaring problem that stands out which is not clear in the app. It does not show expected income if one does happen to find employment. The other is the Airport that is mentioned. It may all seem like science fiction being able to live where you want to live. Many things come to mind from leaving one country to start in a new country. For some it is to have a healthy family, safe place to live, work and play. While there are those that would have opposing views to say differently. The idea of having abundance of wealth, versus healthy living and crime free neighbourhoods. The one thing in common that most people share, is to get rid of debt and to have a roof over their head. Osijek being listed on the top seven can lead to positive results in tourism and the business community. People with the enthusiasm to travel will want to check out this part of Croatia. The business aspect may also be considered, with the goals of having employees living a better life in Osijek. If you are one of the few lucky people living in Croatia you might receive a Licitar. Many Croatian know of the Licitar but for people that have been married into a Croatian family one may not know of it significant meanings. It is important to ask or dig up a few really interesting details about what it symbolizes or its history. Licitar is edible to eat if one desires, however before doing so, many people have found that it was too beautiful to eat. Thus it has became a cherished item because of its meaning and beauty. In Osijek the Tourist board has done many great things to help carry on the tradition for people living here and visiting. One should check out there face-book as they can direct to various workshops for Lictar

It’s all about stopping the negative demographic trend. “This is a crucial and very large important project focusing that we want to bring people back to the area of Slovonia, Baranja and Western Srijema. Economic growth and development are keys to creating jobs.We want to stop the negative Demographic trend in Eastern Croatia and restore the dignity.” Said Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds (and Member of the Presidency of the HDZ) Gabriel Žalac. “Project Slavonia, Barnaja and Western Srijema” will give measures of dealing with the most needed areas of the Slavonia Counties, that are rural or less urbanised a chance to move forward. The funds would be directly allocated thus opportunity to earn additional points when selecting future projects. (Open grant award procedure.) To sum it up considerably through this project so far to date “Project Slavonia” contracted 2.3 percent of assets, or more than 420 million Kuna. To be able to go forward with plans faster and more resourceful use of “European Structural and Investment funds” the criteria measures such as creating a new model of development index, mapping of poverty and multiple deprivation index and the production of analytical materials to redefine the statistical regions in the new financial period. For the original text from Gabrijela Žalac Osijek could be seeing in the future a new Hospital.
(Reported Original on Jutarnji list on February 8 2017.) "Osijek Hospital is in bad shape and construction of the new hospital is a need that arises. Patching and repair of old buildings that were built before 100 years and it's been a while and Croatia to the state to have to look for solutions, "stated Milan Kujundzic, Minister of Health, in an early recent visit, due to cold weather causing pipes to burst. This occurred in the “Institute of Ophthalmology building in Osijek hospital. “ It’s unfortunately the problem of Croatian Medicine, as many hospitals and health centers as buildings are in terms in poor condition. I can say as a minister that we urgently find funds to ensure the repair of the building and to return it to its prior condition to a normal job at the eye clinic.” The current hospital administration previously presented an idea to relocate and move to the Eurodom Business Center, but that is not practicable nor achievable for many to numerous of explanations such as “Lack of Square footage”, and the necessity for acquiring extra investment in modification of the building which should previously be bought for 100 million euros. The general public was totally unaware that the previous management of the hospital had launched an initiative to construct a new hospital in years past of spring of 2014. The ideal location at the time was the area near the district of JUG II, Between Bajera (Bayer), southern bypass and Agricultural institute. The location has around 17 hectares of city and state land. The mayor of Osijek Ivan Vrkić positively answered a letter of intent to the Hospital administration. He expressed readiness to the city of Osijek to leave their land for a new state hospital in exchange for some other state property. There is more to the story of what happen in May of 2014. “However it needs to be focused on the present situation. The conditions of the four locations in the old buildings are over 100 years old which do not meet basic hygiene, health standards, non-energy inefficient, and poor transportation links. These were some of the reason why it was best to suggested to build a New Hospital.” This was said by Saša Lamza former Health Management (A side note of cost of repairs and renovation to the present building would set a price of at least 500 million Kuna compared to a new hospital at approximately 300 million Euros.) “Osijek could get a modern hospital with 1,800 to 2,000 hospital beds, with all medical departments would be located together. Providing excellent conditions for patients (single and double rooms) staff, energy efficient savings, excellent road access, more parking spaces, and the development of health tourism…it’s important. And what part of the non-health within the facility management assumed by the private investor. As for the current hospital building, they could go either sell or lease” said Saša Lamza In other words, the hospital would be built and maintained by a private company, and the state would be paying the rent for 25 years, after which the Hospital would become property of the state. “It’s a good plan that we unfortunately can’t proceed on because of all the infrastructure projects needed in health care are going very slowly. Rijeka and Osijek are the priorities when it comes to a new hospitals, and I think that is Public/Private ownership is the best solution. Through-out Europe they are also being building all the new hospitals in this way. It’s important that the state would not have to borrow and construction would not go into public’s responsibility for repaying the debt. The new Hospital for Osijek fits into the master-plan connecting as a local hospital and I think the state should progress in that project. However all these projects should consolidate with tendering for potential investors, and the Ministry of Health to give full authority over their implementation” said Siniša Varga a former health minister.
