The project Slavonia, Baranja and Western Srijema “It was launched to ensure 2.5 billion euros (18.75 billion) from EU fund solely for projects in the area of the 5 Slavonia Counties. Fund for investment into entrepreneurship, agriculture, education, health, research and development, water and sanitation, cultural and natural heritage, transportation sector. The Inland waterways and energy have been provided under the existing operational programs and the Rural Development Program in the fiscal period of 2014-2020.”
It’s all about stopping the negative demographic trend. “This is a crucial and very large important project focusing that we want to bring people back to the area of Slovonia, Baranja and Western Srijema. Economic growth and development are keys to creating jobs.We want to stop the negative Demographic trend in Eastern Croatia and restore the dignity.” Said Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds (and Member of the Presidency of the HDZ) Gabriel Žalac. “Project Slavonia, Barnaja and Western Srijema” will give measures of dealing with the most needed areas of the Slavonia Counties, that are rural or less urbanised a chance to move forward. The funds would be directly allocated thus opportunity to earn additional points when selecting future projects. (Open grant award procedure.) To sum it up considerably through this project so far to date “Project Slavonia” contracted 2.3 percent of assets, or more than 420 million Kuna. To be able to go forward with plans faster and more resourceful use of “European Structural and Investment funds” the criteria measures such as creating a new model of development index, mapping of poverty and multiple deprivation index and the production of analytical materials to redefine the statistical regions in the new financial period.
