The newest brewery you may not even know about its existence yet is LuPaHor Brewery. With its tagline “Customize your beer.” They have combined technology with something that is century years old of brewing.

Written by James Mac Donald Just outside Osijek this past Saturday was a medieval fair camped at the Historical Fortress Kolođvar. This was the fourth consecutive year of “Return of knights to Fortress Kolođvar” (Povratak vitezova na utvrdu Kolođvar) bringing out Knights, Archers, Maidens and the Princess. The event started at 16:00 and carried on throughout the night with medieval entertainers. With the participation of Knights in the program from various parts of Croatia and Hungary. It was a fun-filled night with plenty of food, with “Grah” (meat and bean soup) being the main dish. The event brought out the best in the surrounding communities as it was well organized and full of life Osijek-One

If you have ever visited Hokus Okus, you probably know them for their amazing food that spices up the day. What is Hokus Okus It is a restaurant that brings the city to life in the urban center of downtown Osijek. When you walk in for the first time it is like magic that it takes you to another place or time. The food is served hot with a great selection of food to choose from. Written by James Mac Donald Photos by James Mac Donlad Mc Donald’s faced the fate of being demolition today with no notice or anyone from Osijek really knowing about its fate. With a full crew of construction workers and heavy machinery on site to do a complete teardown. With Mc Donald’s location on the corner of Drinska Ul and Ul Kneza Trpimira it was one of the places to be in Osijek for something that was Iconic of North American fast food chain. The main question could be: is it history or just the fast pace world of North America creeping up with the changing times. Osijek-One Written by James Mac Donald What is Liberty Festival in Osijek ? This will be the first Liberty Festival in Osijek happening this weekend (August 25, 2017) with many different themes happening. The festival will include discussions, education, Cyclist race around Osijek, music and dancing. Sound like a typical festival at first but this one has some great things to it to set it aside from other events. With so many things happening in one place it is worth looking into. The festival kicks off in Osijek at the catacombs on the left bank of the river Drava. Liberty Festival is one festival that looks at things as they are and the ability to turn it into a positive.
Osijek-One Written by James Mac Donald Photos and Video by James Mac Donald This weekend was the 2nd annual Tarda Festival held just 5-minute drive outside of Osijek. In a town called Darda was the place to be at the Esterhazy castle. It was full of excitement bringing together rich cultural history from the past history of life for the three days. Reconnecting history through cultural activities, fine clothing of the era, food, and music and dancing. The theme draws upon the early 16th century and at the dawn of the 18th century. With special concert performance from the hit group Frajle.
Osijek-One Written by James Mac Donald The month of August maybe the busiest months of festivals and cultural events before the school season starts up again. Osijek and Baranja surrounding area has been host to more festivals, cultural events and sports activities this year. The Municipalities and Tourism board has seen a positive which has been incredible. It can be noticed with growing number of Tourists arriving in by buses these past summer months. This month NK Osijek will be facing some more historic moment in its soccer club history.
With the temperature getting hotter this week in Osijek, this has many people thinking how hot it will get. If you just got back from the coast or just visiting your probably thinking where to chill and keep cool. Ice cream will be the favorite for the kids while you are touring the city or doing some shopping. This week maybe the week to skip on the marathon run. The one thing to do is avoid too much exercise such as running or long bike rides. Drinking plenty of water to keep hydrated during the heat wave will help. Don’t forget to wear Sun screen and a hat for protection as it’s easy to forget how quickly one can get burned. It’s always best to keep cool in the shade to minimalize UV rays and the summer heat. If you can’t make it to the swimming pool. A small inflatable pool for under 100 Kuna’s will do the trick especially if you are not a fan of crowds. It’s always a good idea to supervise young children because a lot can happen in a few seconds. The other cool game is tossing an ice cold water balloon around for fun. The old school as some may remember is getting sprayed by the garden watering hose. For those that find it still too hot, the patios will be packed as people will be seeking the cool breeze from the river Drava.
“Copacabana’’ or “Kopika’’ beside the river Drava is one of the coolest places to be in Osijek. Get there early before noon as the water is cool and plenty of parking. High noon the place is full and even gets more packed as people leave earlier from work on hot days like this. All four pools will be open this week due to the heat wave. With two water slides that stand two stories high and have been refurbished this year. With plenty of shade with trees and shelters to enjoy the sounds of summer. Osijek and the surrounding areas have some great outdoor pools to keep cool. There are also some small pools as well. Here are some of the top of the list for pools to visit and have fun. It won’t be long until we say summer went by so quickly with school a month away. Knezevi Vinograd Bazeni Just outside keeping the drive to a minimal as the no one wants to drive far from the city center. They have an Olympic pool of 25 X 50 M, and a small children’s pool 8 X8m which is perfect for the day in the summer’s heat. Web site: Kenzevi Bizovacke-Toplice This is just down the highway about 25 minutes away in Bizovacke. The place has many facilities with an indoor and outdoor pool. There is much to see and do with some unique events that happen. Web site: Bizovacke-toplice Face book:Bizovacke-Toplice |
