Osijek-One Written by James Mac Donald The Children’s Theatre in Osiek has achieved a huge success for 2017. It has been noted to be one of the most successful past years in the history of the theatre. In a report this week from republika.eu Director Ivica Lučić states that 188 performances were performed at the Children's Theater last year, with 32,829 spectators, while 76 appearances at festivals and performances for 18,700 spectators. For the calendar year of 2017 the theatre had premiered performance: “Story of the Sea Bottom”, “Ugly Duckling”, “James and the Giant Peach”, “Knight without a horse”, and “Shut Up”. 2017 year the theatre traditionally hosted its annual events throughout the season: “Winter Fun”, “Theatre night”, “Children Theatre calls you”, and more. In total played 264 performances from premier and rehearsal programs and Ballet studio, Dance, and Drama Studios for High School Students. James and the Giant Peach
One of the most familiar titles “James and the giant peach” by Roald Dahl was adapted to puppetry at the Children’s Theatre Branka Mihaljevića in Osijek. The text of the story was adapted by Marina Bjelić Đurić, director Dragoslav Todorović, Irina Somborac, Vladimir Pejkovic and lighting design by Igor Elek. In the play are Edi Ćelić, Aleksandra Colnarić, Maja Lučić Vuković / Kristina Fančović and Ivica Lučić / Srđan Kovačević. With many great reviews from HRT Radio Osijek, and other media outlets have taken the time to show audiences how amazing the performance has been in 2017. Since its debut with Osijek Children’s Theatre last year, they have achieved many awards for this masterpiece. The set design and costume design are just some of the elements that have stood out with the Production. Telling the story through live actors and puppeteers have been a long tradition in Croatia history. The sets and scenery carry the story acting as a backdrop with vivid colours but not distracting from the plot. Production and performers are top-notch in achieve international recognition, with performances in other cities in Croatia and in neighbouring countries. Winning the most awards last year will not stop there, as the creativity and inspiration for new productions continue.
